Where am I?
This week I am in Montreat, North Carolina attending the annual Music & Worship conference hosted by the Presbyterian Association of Musicians. This “conference is for everyone committed to the work of worship in the church— pastors, musicians, choir members, worship committee members, children and youth. The Presbyterian Association of Musicians (PAM) works in cooperation with the Montreat Conference Center to offer two identical Worship and Music conferences each summer. Guided by the principles of Reformed worship, conferees explore opportunities for vital worship experiences and enriching the liturgical life of the local church.”
The first Worship & Music conference I attended was almost forty years ago- when I was a second grader. I’ve only attended a few times since that first one, but each one has been rich and memorable- and Sarah Allan has been attending them for the last four years. It’s one of her favorite annual events, and this year Cora Kesterson is joining us. Next year, maybe we’ll have a few more of Old Stone Presbyterian Church folks heading to Montreat!
While I am gone, if there is a pastoral emergency please contact Debbie in the church office or call me on my cell phone.
I’ll see you soon!

Peace,
Rev. Anna

Greetings from the Sunday School Class led by Chuck Lewis.
I appreciate the able assistance of Ben Lewis during my travels. Thought for the week: You could speak of Jesus' rising as the most hopeful thing that has ever happened and you would be right. Last week's Old Testament Quiz: What was Gideon doing when called by an angel of the Lord? Answer: The Midianites were taking any known food crops so Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press.
This week's Old Testament Quiz: During the period of Judges, there was a man named Manoah whose wife was barren. An angel of the Lord appeared to her and promised she would conceive and bear a son. Who was that son?
Last week our lesson taught us to be careful when choosing the promises we make to God and others.
Background scriptures this week come from Judges and Numbers. Find the answer to this week's Bible Quiz this Sunday at 10:00 AM in the Conference Room.

THANK YOU AND UPDATE
I am most grateful for the many expressions of concern extended to me by the Old Stone Church as I have undergone chemotherapy this winter and spring. Your cards, visits, meals, and prayers have brought encouragement, strength, and renewal to my life. Thank you.
On July 6, I will begin the week of harvesting my stem cells. Later, in July and throughout August, I will be given the transplant of these same stem cells which will involve a hospitalization of about 3 weeks and an extended stay in Charlottesville for 2-3 more weeks.
If you wish to send a card or note, send the same to our Lewisburg address (536 Lamplighter) as our mail will be forwarded.
Again, many thanks for your love and support,

Dexter

Mother's Ministry Volunteers Request:
This Fall, Old Stone Church will be opening its doors to the community, as we begin a Mother's Ministry! This ministry will serve all women in our Greenbrier Community by sharing the love of Christ with them through Bible studies, fellowship and encouragement as they experience the adventure of Motherhood.
This is a wonderful opportunity to bring young families into our church home. To make this ministry possible, volunteers are needed for childcare and mentoring. The group will meet 1-2 times per month on Friday mornings. Asking all men and women of the church interested in serving this need, to please contact Amy Brown at 304-676-1468.

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN SING
On Sunday, July 2, at 10:45 a.m., the congregation will gather to sing some favorite 4th of July songs. Worship will begin at 11:00 a.m. as usual.

OFFICE CLOSURE
Due to vacation schedules, the church office will be closed July 3 through July 7.

Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Giving of God’s Tithes and Our Offerings

Offertory

Doxology Hymn #592

praise God above, ye heavenly host;
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Sharing of Concerns and Celebrations

Call to Prayer “Lead Me, Lord”

Prayer of the People and the Lord’s Prayer
…..Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Hymn #562 “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” Melita

Benediction
Leader: The peace of Christ be with you.
